Do you multitask while driving? Are you texting while driving? Considering Qatar has implemented stricter laws regarding the use of mobile phones while driving, you might want to put an end to that habit right now.

Based on its strict implementation of the law, the General Directorate of Traffic recommended increasing the fine for violators.

Rules on the Use of Mobile Phone While Driving

The Traffic Department organized a campaign to educate people about the dangers of using mobile phones on the road in order to spread awareness about the stricter traffic laws.

The awareness campaign will be promoted in newspapers and on social media. This campaign was first launched by the Ministry of Interior in September of last year. On the official Twitter page of the MoI, a tweet was posted concerning the use of mobile phones while driving.

The General Directorate of Traffic in Qatar has issued a statement on the law’s specifications:

Any mobile engagement will now be considered a violation, like playing games, sending texts, and checking other mobile applications. In the past, only talking on a cell phone while driving was considered illegal.”

“Drivers using mobile devices while driving will be fined and booked on the spot by patrols and security. The aim is to curb these violations since many motorists use their mobile phones for more than just phone calls, but also for WhatsApp, Facebook, and other social networks,” the official reiterated.
